The history of the Castle
Built in the 14th century when Aquitaine was under English rule, Château Lamothe du Prince Noir belonged to Édouard de Woodstock, eldest son of King Edward III. The prince is said to have stayed there several times during his hunting trips. After several years of renovation, Château Lamothe du Prince Noir was first transformed into a family residence with a Bed & Breakfast managed by the family. It was then acquired by new owners who are passionate about history. Today, they offer you the possibility to privatize the castle, in whole or in part, for a night, a stay with family or friends, professional seminars, or sporting events. The castle has a maximum capacity of 15 beds. You will have the opportunity to enjoy the estate in complete autonomy, and to organize tailor-made family events. Your hosts are at your disposal to make each occasion an exceptional experience in this emblematic place.

We have renovated the Château with love and passion in an elegant French style. Each space has kept its authenticity and prestige to offer you a unique journey and experience. All the furniture has been second-hand and all the antiques have a story. It is with passion that we invite you to come and discover the history of this emblematic château.

Simply recharge your batteries in our comfortable and spacious rooms. Our five suites are south-facing and offer a delightful view of the moat and the park. For your comfort, all our suites are equipped with high-end bedding, silky linens and towels, as well as bath amenities.

Every morning, enjoy your delicious breakfast in the dining room or on the terrace. By renting our rooms with shared common areas, you are independent, so take advantage of the castle's large kitchen to prepare your favorite dishes yourself.

Good to know
To simplify your stay, enjoy parking, quality services and Wi-Fi. Upon reservation, we can recommend drivers for transfers between the airport and the Château. Check-in is after 5 p.m. and can be done independently and check-out before 10 a.m. also independently (possibility of arriving earlier depending on availability). The château does not have a lift. To fully enjoy the region, it is advisable to come with your car to our establishment. We can recommend many restaurants in the vicinity of the Château.
Animals
In our charming castle very close to Bordeaux and Saint-Émilion, we accept animals with additional charge and upon prior request. You will share your stay with the ducks, swans, fish and deer that populate our park.
